Currently the news media is filled with the Government Shutdown and all its repercussions. Talking heads sit and over analyze every in and out of the process, casting blame and shame on their political opponents. I think we all understand that our government is a mess, but this is nothing new. I grew up listening to grown-ups complaining about Congress and the White House and I’ve watched the same arguments between parties take place for decades.
While that may be the case, our current generation adds the element of conspiracies. Especially since the post war era of the 50’s, with Area 51, numerous groups or individuals have promoted the case for the latest conspiracy theory. The Hebrew Roots Movement has folk who exert a lot of time and energy carrying these theories around, seeing nefarious strategies being played out behind closed doors concerning almost every news item. According to this mindset, our government is not only a mess, but is also especially wicked, filled with people seeking to enslave us and render us to serf status again.
Last week, sitting under my modern day Sukkah/Coleman Canopy during Sukkot, I read from Yeshayahu [Isaiah] 8:12-16 and found something that leaped from the page to me. “Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’ concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. YHWH of hosts, Him you shall set apart. Let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.” I heard from that text that I had been wasting a lot of time being overly concerned with the threats of the government taking away our freedoms and liberties. While I focused on those issues, I had lost my fear of YHWH and His authority over the nations of the earth.
After reading this section of scripture, I included in a teaching the understanding of a particular spiritual element that I personally have fought and resisted for years. I use the name, “Wrong Focus” or the “spirit of distraction” to identify this attack on my mind. I have wasted countless hours searching something out only to find it meaningless and void of any real value. That’s bad enough, but then to realize what I might have actually gained that could have proven fruitful and lasting just makes the groan louder. Look, we all know that evil men exist and have their evil plans. The New World Order is a real deal. There are power brokers behind the puppet heads who fill offices and carry titles in D.C. None of us have the capacity to follow all the diplomatic deals and CIA, NSA, IRS schemes and deeds. These conspiracies will literally wear you out. BUT, you can seek the Face of YHWH and hear His agenda for the last days. “…many among them shall stumble and fall, and be broken and snared and taken. Bind up the witness, seal the Torah among my taught ones.”
Instead of spending yourself being concerned and afraid of what man or his organizations are planning for you, seek the plans of the Father for us. The anti-moshiach/messiah and that world order is coming, whoever your theory may say that he, it, they, are, but he, it, they end up being destroyed by our coming King. We win in the end. Our Messiah rules with the pure heart of the Torah and the earth is covered in His glory. Even if threats are real against us, “…we love not our lives unto death.” [Revelation 12:11]. The dragon will pursue the Woman, but the dragon ends up in the same fire as the anti-messiah entity.
If we are going to be exhausted, worn, and tired, let it be in the cause of seeking after YHWH, His Kingdom, His Messiah, His plan, and His Word. These things endure. These will prevail and overcome all that we have worried ourselves with. May you be filled with His Shalom, and may He give you genuine Rest.
